Day 01 :

Alexandria Tour – Catacombs & Pompey's Pillar

Embark on an unforgettable journey to Alexandria from Cairo. Our dedicated tour guide will meet you at your hotel for a comfortable drive (approx. 2.5 hours) in a private air-conditioned vehicle.

Upon arrival, begin your exploration with Pompey’s Pillar, a red granite column standing over 25 meters high, located at the site of the ancient Serapeum temple dedicated to the god Serapis.

Next, descend into the Catacombs of Kom El Shoqafa, a remarkable Roman-era necropolis. Explore the three levels of tombs, the central shaft, and the unique blend of Pharaonic and Roman art carved into the rock.

Following the historical visits, head to the corniche for a delightful seafood lunch at a premium restaurant overlooking the Old Harbor. Enjoy the sea breeze and refreshing lemon mint juice. Afterward, transfer to your hotel for check-in. In the evening, you may opt for a leisurely stroll with your guide to sample Alexandria’s famous desserts (optional).

Qaitbay Citadel & Library of Alexandria

Enjoy breakfast at your hotel before meeting your guide for another captivating day. Visit the Qaitbay Citadel, a majestic 15th-century fortress built by Sultan Qaitbay. It stands on the exact site of the ancient Lighthouse of Alexandria (Pharos), one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, and utilizes some of its original stones.

En route back to Cairo, visit the modern Library of Alexandria (Bibliotheca Alexandrina). Opened in 2002 (text notes 1996, but officially 2002), this architectural marvel commemorates the ancient library and serves as a major cultural center.

Finally, enjoy a relaxing drive back to Cairo, with a stop for a hot drink at a rest area along the way. You will be dropped off at your hotel in Cairo.
